Kershaw

Founded in Portland, Oregon in 1974, the Kershaw brand has become synonymous with innovation and value.  Pete Kershaw, a former knife salesman for Gerber Legendary Blades, started the company using his own designs and the rest, they say, is history.

Kershaw developed many of the technologies used in the knife industry today, as well as blazing a trail towards the use of advanced metals and components in the manufacture of knives.  In partnership with Hall-of-Fame knifemaker Ken Onion, they were the first company to introduce Assisted Opening knives to the market: the SpeedSafe series.  Another first for Kershaw was the introduction of Composite Blade technology, which combines two steels into one blade, at the 2007 annual Blade Show, winning the "Overall Knife of the Year" award.

Since 1977, Kershaw Knives has been a subsidiary of the KAI Group. Kai has been Japan's premier blade producer for over 100 years.  The majority of the designs are manufactured in a modern facility in Tualatin, Oregon.
